Contrary to general perception, Tumwater Falls is not a municipal park.  It is open to the public free of charge by the nonprofit Olympia Tumwater Foundation as a gift to the community. The Park, built in 1962, requires over $200,000  per year to operate and has seen a 15 percent increase in use over the past year.
