| The Olympia
Tumwater Foundation archives serve as a repository for artifacts, archival information, and objects preserving the memory
and legacy of the
Leopold F. Schmidt family and the
Olympia Brewing Company as well as supporting and promoting the architectural and cultural heritage of the Tumwater Historic District. The collection consists of family records and personal papers, correspondence, photographs, and internal documents of the brewery. The holdings are preserved in a climate controlled, closed-access setting in Tumwater, Washington.
Under the direction of John Heelan, Foundation trustee, and Terry Badger, certified archivist, a strategic plan will be formulated with the following goals: * make the entire collection available on our website for ready record availability and for research using PastPerfect, a museum software program * Develop a close association with schools teachers focusing on local history to complement studies of Washington history
* Manage and preserve the collection using industry recommended practices
The Foundation is currently seeking a sponsor to purchase PastPerfect, an integrated archive and museum management software program, to allow us to protect
and catalog its heritage and the heritage of the community. Contact Jackie Tobosa at (360) 943-2550 for more details.
